Cholesterol Level

It is advisable to check your cholesterol level before you start eating your favorite food, many people not aware of their cholesterol level before it is too late, and even if you are young you still can have high cholesterol level. This is all depends on what you eat, everything that you eat has something to do with you cholesterol level, it might increase it or it could also decrease it.

So, what is cholesterol?

Our cells, every single one of it is surrounded by cholesterol, it is needed in every vital functions of our body its function is to ensure the signal that is sent by our nerve system could travel properly. Hormones that our body used to carry special signals also produced by cholesterol.

Risk of heart disease would be increased if you have high cholesterol level, cholesterol is important for our bodily function but it still have to be controlled. So, if your cholesterol level is too high you have to lower it immediately.

How to know your cholesterol level?

Now, the problem is how to measure your cholesterol level, to check if you have too much of it? The easiest way is to consult to your doctor, let your doctor check your cholesterol. Just by knowing are your level is high is or not is not enough, to check your risk of having heart attack you need to know your “Lipoprotein” level.

Lipoprotein are molecules that your body used to carry cholesterol around your body. They are the one that control how many cholesterol inside your body. There are two main types of Lipoprotein, the high density Lipoprotein (HDL) and the low density Lipoprotein (LDL).

It’s the LDL that you should aware of, having too much LDL is a sign that your body have too much bad cholesterol. The HDL brings the cholesterol away from cells into the liver and this type of lipoprotein also means you have good cholesterol.

Average person have a cholesterol level 4.0mmol/l, but, if your LDL number is high, then your cholesterol level should be around 2.0mmol/l. Everyone is different, so you need to have It checked in order to know the exact level.

Cholesterol is an important part of your body, and you need to check your level to know if you have to do something about it. Nowadays, many people suffering heart disease caused by high cholesterol level. Eat healthy food, quit smoking and start exercising to increase your HDL cholesterol level, this should lower your risk of heart attack.
